Steve CruseHVAC Consultant |
Value Delivered
Steve helps clients design and develop HVAC systems that effectively improve overall quality of operations, resulting in the high-performance facilities needed in today's competitive environment. In the process, he helps them assess value-engineering opportunities and develop appropriate budgets. He also expedites long lead-time items, schedules projects, procures equipment, and engages sub-contractors. The result - systems that fit efficiently into their designated spatial configurations, satisfy local building code requirements, and provide maximum comfort and productivity within the client's budget.
Expertise
Steve began his career as a computer-aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) operator for a sheet metal products company. Before coming to Kilgust, he also worked for a heating contractor, where he started and managed the CAD/CAM department. As a result, he is highly proficient at performing HVAC load/loss building calculations; preparing CAD, shop fabrication, and as-built design drawings; and creating forced air and hydronic system layouts.
In addition to his CAD/CAM expertise, Steve's years of experience have given him extensive knowledge of mechanical systems. He is especially knowledgeable about system components, their capabilities, and the options they provide for various types of buildings. As a result, he can quickly evaluate a building's mechanical systems options and recommend the ones that will best meet a variety of client needs, from improving comfort and productivity, to reducing operating costs, increasing energy efficiency, and more. It's expertise that has helped him successfully design effective, consistently reliable systems and build strong client relationships for many years.
A member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the Air Conditioning Contractors of America Association (ACCA), and Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), Steve holds warm air and hot water licenses for the city of Madison, a Wisconsin HVAC qualifier license, and a Wisconsin Department of Regulations HVAC designer license. He is also certified by the University of Wisconsin to work on geothermal systems.
To keep his expertise up to date, Steve regularly attends code refresher courses, as well as professional seminars on indoor air quality, forced air, hydronic, and other applications.
The Personal Side
Married with two sons, Steve enjoys outdoor activities, including boating, camping, softball, and baseball.
